Joint Council to host delegation from Ethiopia

As part of the Joint Council International Relations Initiative: Education and Exchange Program, Joint Council is honored to host a  4-member Ethiopian delegation, led by Minister of Federal Affairs, Dr. Shiferaw Teklemariam Menbecho.  The delegation will be attending educational and exchange events throughout the United States from August 15th – August 27th, 2010.

The focus of the Education and Exchange Program will be on laws, standards and ethics of intercountry adoption, as well as a broader range of child welfare and protections.  In addition to over 20 training sessions, the officials will participate in a variety of government meetings as well as events with adoptive families and members of the local Ethiopian community.  Events will be held throughout the country in the following cities:

  • Washington D.C.
  • New York City, New York
  • Boston, Massachusetts
  • Dallas/Fort. Worth, Texas
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Portland, Oregon

Joint Council partner organizations will be hosting events for adoptive families, adoption services providers, and members of the community in the above mentioned cities.  The events are open to all members of the community.  Further information regarding the meetings will be posted in the coming days.
