Joint Council can confirm that 150 children have not left Haiti nor arrived in the U.S. To date, approximately 21 children have been issued visas and have arrived or are in transit to the U.S. The adoptions of these children were in the final stages. All required Haitian processing had been completed prior to the earthquake with only the visa needing to be issued.
Reports such as this produce little benefit to adoptive families or children and only serves to elevate the frustrations, and anxiety of adoptive parents.
